PG Calc's Privacy Statement

PG Calc takes every precaution to protect the information with which we are entrusted against unauthorized disclosure or use.  PG Calc adheres to generally accepted industry standards to protect this information, both during transmission and in storage.  These standards include the use of leading hardware and software applications.  However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure.  Therefore, while we strive to protect your applicable information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

All information, not just the sensitive information mentioned below, is restricted in our offices to employees, contractors, software specialists, and network administrators who need the information to perform a specific job.

All Personally Identifiable Information (“PII” as defined by the state of Massachusetts, and any non-public information given to us on our website by visitors is encrypted during transmission using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology, which is widely used on the Internet for this purpose. 

PG Calc obtains private information from a variety of critical business functions, including but not limited to:

  1. Customer Data managed Through our Products
    1. Data managed in GiftWrap, a Web-based gift administration product, used by our clients to maintain their donors’ private information.  
    2. Data collected on our clients’ websites through our Web-based marketing products (GiftGuideGiftCalcs, and GiftStory).
  2. Customer Data administered by our Gift Administration Services during which time PII is given to us and used to perform gift administration services.
  3. Company Data, defined as information collected by PG Calc about our prospective and current clients for our normal course of business, including data collected on our website, http://www.pgcalc.com which may include PII.

Customer Data Managed Through our Products

Customer Data is submitted while Customers and their users use our GiftCalcs,GiftStory, or GiftGuide online services, and Customer Data and PII is transmitted and stored in GiftWrap when Customers use that database application.

All Customer Data submitted by Customer to PG Calc or directly to a service, whether posted by Customers or by users, will remain the sole property of Customer or such users to the full extent provided by law.  Customer will have sole responsibility for the accuracy, quality, integrity, legality, reliability, appropriateness of and copyright permissions for all Customer Data. PG Calc will not use the Customer Data for any purpose other than to provide the services to Customer and for statistical reporting purposes. PG Calc may aggregate anonymous statistical data regarding use and functioning of its systems by users.  Such aggregated statistical data will be the sole property of PG Calc.

Customer acknowledges and agrees that certain PG Calc technical personnel (often called Database Administrators or DBAs) will have access to the database(s) holding all of the data for all Customers (to perform initial conversions or maintenance functions, ensure successful backups, troubleshoot and repair problems in the database and, on request, troubleshoot specific problems the information in a given customer’s database).  When performing data conversions and migrations, we retain the earlier version data format for 30 days (unless a different time frame is requested) after conversion or migration at which time it is destroyed.

Visitors to the GiftCalcs/GiftStory/GiftGuide sites can surf the site without revealing their identities.  In order to provide certain services, we may use “cookies” to track their visits.  A cookie is a small string of data that is transferred to the users’ browser from a website and can be read only by the website that gave it to you.  If a user has identified him- or herself to the website, the cookie acts as an identification card, recording passwords and preferences, and possibly Customer license status.  The cookie cannot be executed as software code or used to deliver viruses. 

Visitors can set their browsers to refuse cookies or to be notified when site has received a cookie, giving the user the option to accept it or not.

  • Customers must adhere to all PG Calc privacy policies and any other requirements that are part of any service agreements.  

    Customers are responsible for all activities that occur under Customer’s User accounts and for maintaining the security and confidentiality of all usernames and passwords. Customer agrees to notify PG Calc immediately of any unauthorized use of any username or password or account or any other known or suspected breach of security.  PG Calc will never ask for or decrypt a User password.

Customer Data Managed Through Administration Services

PG Calc personnel use exceptional care with Customer Data in all forms and access to it is only given to those who need it to perform their administrative duties.

Any electronic correspondence of Customer Data that includes PII is sent outbound via encrypted email, secure FTP, or by facsimile.  We request that this same type of information is only delivered to us in the same fashion.

Company Data

In various instances on our website, users are asked to submit information to us electronically. For example, information is requested when asked to register before subscribing to email newsletters or when requesting information about or purchasing 
PG Calc products and services, including credit card information. 

When sensitive information is submitted to us in this or any other form, including by telephone, fax, email, or electronically via the website (www.pgcalc.com), the information is protected, both online as well as off-line. 

Corporate Privacy Policies and Practices

In case PG Calc receives legal process that demands or requires disclosure of the confidential information of a disclosing party, PG Calc will give prompt notice to the disclosing party, if legally permissible, to enable the disclosing party to challenge such demand.

With the exception of Customer Data (such as donor or gift information) or PII (such as a credit card numbers), we occasionally contract with other companies to provide limited services on our behalf, including mailing and delivering purchases, sending postal mail and processing event registration.  We only provide those companies the information they need to deliver the service, and they are prohibited from using that information for any other purpose. These companies do not retain, share, store, or use that they receive from PG Calc for any other purposes.

PG Calc follows industry-standard unsubscribe practices.  Individuals have the right to opt out of receiving marketing communications and newsletters from PG Calc by following the "unsubscribe” instructions that come with each message from us.  In addition, Customers may opt out of receiving such communications by emailing us at info@pgcalc.com email address or by telephoning us at 617-497-4970.

From our websites, we do not knowingly collect or use personal information from children under 13 without obtaining verifiable consent from their parents.
